Description
When the Profinet firmware receives IP traffic and the internal IP processing is delayed for long periods by e.g. filesystem access, the processing of Acyclic Profinet frames might also be delayed. As a result, the Profinet firmware does not react in time to other protocols including:
- Profinet Alarms
- Profinet Synchronization (PTCP)
- Profinet Media Redundancy (MRP)
This may lead to unexpected behavior of the Profinet communication up to connection abort.
The issue is mostly relevant for Usecase "C" firmwares where the IP processing can be delayed for long periods during filesystem access.
