Description
Using PTP in an EtherNet/IP device requires the support of a specific signaling message.
See CIP Specification Volume 1 Edition 3.15 (section 5-47.15.10.1 "Path Reconfiguration Signaling Message")
The Path Reconfiguration Signaling Message is issued by a device to notify that a network reconfiguration has been detected. The message is a CIP Sync profile specific Signaling message. DLR Gateway devices will issue this message when a network reconfiguration has been detected. DLR end nodes will receive this message and recalculate the mean path delay using the delay request-response mechanism.
The requested feature includes only the capability of receiving that signaling message and starting the path reconfiguration process. The PTP stack does not need to support the sending of signaling messages.
