Account:SPC EthernetIp Core (SPCETHERNET)
Description
The EtherNet/IP Core today only supports the standard Forward_Open service (service ID 0x54, Connection Manager Object). Using this service at maximum 511 bytes can be exchanged (implicit and explicit connections).
The EtherNet/IP Core shall be extended to also support the Large_Forward_Open service (service ID 0x5b, Connection Manager Object) for target connections, which supports up to 65535 bytes. The number of bytes that can be exchanged via a single connection will then only be limited by the Maximum Transmission Unit (MTU) of the Ethernet Frames.
User Story
As a device manufacturer, I want the EtherNet/IP stack to support the Large_Forward_Open service, so that I can transfer more data via a single implicit (class 0/1) or explicit (class 3) connection.
Reference to CIP Specification
The Large_Forward_Open service is an optional CIP service that belongs to the Connection Manager Object.
See CIP Volume 1, Edition 3.36, section 3-5.6 and section 3-5.6.2.
